PIUS K. LEUNG
Pius K. Leung is the President of Charter Equity, Inc., providing commercial real estate brokerage and property management services to investors from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Japan, Canada, Germany and Switzerland. In addition to the CCIM designation, Pius holds the CPM (Certified Property Manager) and the CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist) designations.
He represented investors with over $65 million in acquisitions over the past five (5) years.
Pius served as the 2005 President of the CCIM Institute. Pius is a member of National Association of Realtors’ Executive Committee and was serving as the NAR President’s Liaison to the Society of Hong Kong Real Estate Agents in Hong Kong, China from 2000 -2005.
Pius was a founding member of the Greater Houston Chinese Real Estate Association in 1995. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Asian Real Estate Association of America and presently serves as its Treasurer.
Besides teaching for the CCIM Institute, Pius is a member of the faculty of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) CIPS Network for the CIPS designation; the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) for the CPM designation; and the Realtors® Land Institute for the AL designation. He has teaching experience around the world in countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland, Mexico, South Korea, Russia, Taiwan, China, and Japan. He is currently holding the title of visiting professor of the School of International Economic and Trade of the University of International Business and Economic in Beijing, China.
Pius enjoys sharing his real estate knowledge with students and hopes to teach practical knowledge that students will be able to use immediately after each class.
Pius received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting from the University of Mississippi. In 2004, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Finance by the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China.
Pius was born and raised in Hong Kong and came to the United States in 1977. He moved to Houston in 1982. Pius is fluent in Cantonese and understands Mandarin. The Houston Association of Realtors awarded him the International Realtor of the Year in 1998 and the National Association of Realtors awarded him the CIPS Instructor of the Year in 1999. The Houston Association of Realtors named him Realtors of the Year in 2002.
